Second toddler dies after being pulled from babysitter's pool, hospital says

A nearly two-year-old boy died Sunday after being pulled from his babysitter's pool last week, according to East Tennessee Children's Hospital. His twin sister drowned in the same West Knox County pool Friday morning.

Knoxville — UPDATE: A nearly two-year-old boy died Sunday afternoon after being pulled from his babysitter's pool last week, according to East Tennessee Children's Hospital. His twin sister drowned in the same West Knox County pool Friday morning.

The twins were in the care of a babysitter at a home on Fox Lonas Road. She told investigators she began looking for the children when another child arrived at 10 a.m. She found them in the deep end of the swimming pool.

They were rushed by ambulance to the hospital.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office and DCS are investigating the incident.

Two young children were rushed to the hospital after being pulled from a pool Friday morning, according to Rural/Metro Captain Jeff Bagwell.

First responders were called to the home on Fox Lonas Road around 10:15 a.m. Bagwell described the children as a toddler and an infant. Life saving measures were performed on both young victims. They were transported to East Tennessee Children's Hospital in critical condition.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office is investigating what happened.
