Irmo receives grant to fix sidewalks

Lexington County gives out grants every year to their communities and Irmo was able to snag one.

IRMO, S.C. — Each year, Lexington County gives grants to communities in their county for projects they would like to work on.

All the communities have to do is send in a letter saying why they need it and what it will go towards. The Town of Irmo applied is happy with the outcome.

“We got lucky and got $16,000 to repair sidewalks, in the Lexington County portion of town," town administrator Bob Brown told us.

Director of Public Works Whitt Cline told me that they should be getting started in mid-August and it shouldn’t take more than a couple of weeks.

“Mr. Cline has already picked out about 40 different sections in town that need to be repaired," Brown said, "We’re probably going to do a big portion in front of the police department that’s been falling about for about the last 6 years.”
