Sidewalk fixed after months of waiting

After a viewer reached out and our team started to dig into the issue of a damaged sidewalk, it was suddenly repaired.

Street Squad received an email from Patrick Donlon of Irmo asking us to find out what is going on with a portion of sidewalk on Woodrow St. near Royal Tower Rd.

This specific portion of the sidewalk has been “closed” for a couple of months causing standing water to pool up and limiting access for walkers.

I spoke with Scott Pryzwanksy with Spectrum who told me another service provider in the area damaged some of their wiring. Crews were able to provide a temporary fix the evening that happened causing the mess.

Permits were applied for through SCDOT to permanently fix the line.

Surprisingly, this morning, crews contracted by Spectrum were out repairing the sidewalk.

The sidewalk should be back open by Monday.
