Batesburg-Leesville gets new state-of-the-art 9-1-1 system

Police say this is a state-of-the-art system and the department will be the first in the state to have this kind of system. It’s called C-Blade and is considered, “AT&T’s most advanced call handling system.”

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. — The Batesburg-Leesville Police Department switched to a new improved 9-1-1 dispatch system.

Police say it is a state-of-the-art system and the department will be the first in the state to have this kind of system. It’s called C-Blade and is considered, “AT&T’s most advanced call handling system.”

The Batesburg-Leesville Police Department said in the last month, AT&T crews had been working to install the new system.

The department said in a release that the "new 9-1-1 system will enhance 9-1-1 operations and provide valuable new features for BLPD dispatchers. In addition, the 9-1-1 mapping system is more accurate and provides additional information that can be utilized during emergencies to improve officer response time.”

Previously, the department used to have Life Line 100 system but that system had, “reached the end of its life.”

Originally, law enforcement wanted to switch to AT&T’s Viper 9-1-1 system but they were presented with the newer technology at the same cost.

Chief Wallace Oswald with the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department believes this new system will make a big difference for those who live in the area.

“Our dispatchers and officers now have the most advanced tools available to better serve the public and respond when emergencies strike,” said Chief Oswald.
