'Massive sinkhole' in Lexington, police say avoid area

The sinkhole is in the 200 block of Gibson Road.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — A massive sinkhole has opened up on a road in Lexington and officials are saying the road will be closed for two weeks.

Police say a massive sink hole has left the Gibson Road bridge unsafe to drive over and the the 200 block of Gibson Road will be closed for the next two weeks.

Only local traffic will be permitted to travel in the vicinity.
