McDonald's could be coming to Augusta Hwy, Across from Lexington High

Many in the community have debated what would be coming to the Augusta Highway location. Street Squad found out what could be on the way.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — A McDonald’s could be coming to Highway 1 across the street from Lexington High School.

People have noticed construction near the intersection of Augusta Hwy and Charter Oak Road.

In the same area, there’s a Lowes Foods, CVS Pharmacy, Little Caesars Pizza, and other businesses.

Many in the community have debated what would be coming to this location. Some believed there would be a McDonald’s, a Starbucks, a Sonic, or a Chick-fil-A.

Street Squad requested documents from Lexington County to find out what might be on the way. In one of the pages, it indicates a McDonald’s has been in the talks for this location. The County does say no building plans or permits have been approved or issued at this time.

Right now, McDonald’s is the only business mentioned in the paperwork that we have.

Street Squad talked to some folks who didn’t want to go on camera but some like the idea of having a McDonald’s here. Others believe traffic will become a big issue.

In the documents News 19 obtained, the County does tell West Lexington Associates, LLC, “required landscaping will need to be installed and inspected prior to a final building inspection or Certificate of Occupancy.”

They go on to say the approval of the landscaping permit, “does not imply approval of other permits that may be required.”
