This weekend a South Carolina organization called Pick Me! SC has set a goal of 1,500 pet adoptions in the state.

This statewide event is sponsored by the Petco Foundation and organized by No Kill South Carolina.

Street Squad talked with some local shelters in the Midlands about how they are participating in this event.

“What we’re doing is reducing the adoption fee to $20," says adoption specialist Lisa Thomas at Lexington County Animal Shelter, "but any animals that’s been here for longer than 30 days, the adoption fee has been waived.”

“The goal is to get so many pets into great adoptive homes,” Pawmetto Lifeline's DeeAnn Jones tells us.All of their animals have only a $25 adoption fee until Sunday.

“Every animal that’s adopted, its making space to save another animal,” says Thomas
