SUMTER, S.C. — School is out, and, if you're looking for fun ways to entertain the kids, we've got you covered.

Here's a list of cost-friendly activities to do in Sumter County:

Visit the Sumter County Library

The Sumter County Library offers weekly activities for kids, including movies, animal and dinosaur shows, arts and crafts, story time and more. 

The activities are free to do. They just ask that, for some, you register in advance.

Visit the Sumter Opera House

The Sumter Opera House offers $1.00 movies every Tuesday.
The summer line-up includes Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies and Mary Poppins Returns.

Visit a local park 

If you want to find a way to help the kids burn-off some energy, check out one of the Sumter County parks. 

Kids can play ball, tennis or even visit one of five free area splash pads.

City officials say the splash pads can be found at:

  • Crosswell Park (130 Yeadon St.)
  • South Sumter Park (630 S. Sumter St.)
  • Palmetto Park (440 Theatre Dr.)
  • North HOPE Park (904 N. Main Street)
  • Birnie HOPE Park (210 S. Purdy St.)
