Driver dies after running stop sign being struck by truck near Mayesville

The Sumter County Coroner's Office has not yet identified the victim.

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead and two others were injured after a crash in Sumter County that happened on Sunday afternoon.

Master Trooper Gary Miller with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 4:35 p.m. and involved a northbound 2015 Toyota Camry and an eastbound 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck.  

Miller said the driver of the Camry, which was traveling on Brick Church Road, disregarded a stop sign and was struck by the pickup truck on Myrtle Beach Highway.

The driver of the Camry was killed in the crash. The driver and a passenger of the pickup truck were also injured and were taken by paramedics to a Prisma Health hospital.

The Sumter County Coroner's Office has not yet released the name of the deceased victim.
