These Sumter County roads remain impassable after heavy rains on Sunday

As of 3 p.m. Monday, the following roads are closed or impassable due to flood waters

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — A number of Sumter Roads remain impassable after heavy rains on Sunday, according to Sumter County Emergency Management and Sumter County Public Works.  

As of 3 p.m. Monday, the following roads are closed or impassable due to flood waters, according to officials: 

  • Lizard Road (No residence access is affected)
  • McLaurin Road from Highway 261 to Dowry Road
  • Gibbs Dairy Road at branch is closed. The road is accessible from either end.
  • E. Liberty at Fort Street (Fort Street is closed)
  • E. Calhoun Street at Oswego Road
  • Frierson Road at Thomas Sumter Highway
  • Entrance to Kel-Sam Farms from Thomas Sumter Highway
  • South Pike East from Bagnal Drive to Lee Street
  • Hewitt Road from 2469 Hewitt Road to Douglas Swamp Road. This address is still accessible from the Narrow Paved Road.
