The Comet bus is coming to Batesburg-Leesville

The transportation company will carry people to important places in Lexington County and possibly Columbia.

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. — The Comet Bus Transportation System is heading to Batesburg-Leesville.

On Facebook, the town posted The Comet will make its way to the western part of Lexington County soon.

The transportation company will carry people to important places in Lexington County and possibly Columbia, including Red Bank Crossing and other Lexington County Buildings.

Ted Luckadoo, the Town Administrator, believes it will be a great way to move folks, not only around Lexington, but bring more people to Batesburg-Leesville.

“It’s another capability for people in this community,” said Luckadoo. “Some people don’t have transportation readily available to them. So it does become difficult for them to get to doctor’s appointments or go and handle any county tax issues that they have in Lexington County.”

The town says The Comet came to them with the opportunity. The one-year program is not costing them a dime because it’s coming from federal funding.

“What they’re saying at this point is they’re looking at one day a week for people to come in and for the bus to come to our area and provide these services,” explained Luckadoo.

Comet will have a public meeting on Thursday, June 20 to get your input on where the stops should be and where you want to go. The meeting will be at Batesburg-Leesville Town Hall from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
