The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department and Forestry and Beautification division is celebrating owners and caretakers of trees at Riverfront Park.
The program documents and preserves trees that have significant value to the community while also promoting awareness of the benefits and values of trees.
On December 7th, a ceremony awarded certificates to their caretakers, while a new tree was also planted.
Organizers say the program allows future generations to enjoy the benefits of the tree they planted as they recognize the hard work of those before them.
