Suspect charged with murder in shooting that killed one man, injured another

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A suspect has been identified and arrested in the shooting of two men, one fatal.

Kendall Jamil Brice, 29, is accused of firing shots at the men on May 12, hitting both of them in the upper body. One of the victims, 26-year-old Theron Rodrequis Woodard, died from the gunshot wounds. The other victim was hospitalized, and his condition is not known at this time.

Richland County deputies were initially called to the corner of Parklane Road and O'Neal Court, but say the shooting actually occurred on Columbia Mall Boulevard.

Brice was arrested Thursday without incident and charged with murder and attempted murder in this case. However, he was also charged in connection to a February 17 armed robbery case.

Deputies say Brice and another suspect, both masked, went into a home on the 100 block of View Drive dressed in black. They tried to rob the home, but a struggle ensued and they fled.

Brice will now also face first-degree burglary, two counts attempted armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime charges.

He will be booked at the Richland County Detention Center.
