News 19 Teacher of the Week: Amy Price

Amy Price never planned on being a teacher, but now she says she couldn't imagine life without her students.

Lexington, SC (WLTX) — Students at River Bluff High School in Lexington say Amy Price is the queen of school spirit.

“She’s an outstanding teacher,” said Marquicas Taylor. “She’s really energetic and a great teacher.”

Taylor is a senior at River Bluff High School who enjoys going to his Marine Biology class because of his teacher.

“She goes to every game, home or away,” said Taylor. “She dresses up and takes a lot of pictures. She’s like a motivator.”

Mrs. Price didn’t always want to be a teacher. Before venturing into the classroom, she worked as a zookeeper and a park ranger.

“My mother’s a teacher, my father’s a teacher, my sister’s a teacher, even my husband is a teacher,” said Price. “My mother said I was born to be a teacher.”

Now she says she couldn’t imagine life without her students.

“The kids are great, and if you haven’t been to a high school in a while, you need to go,” said Price. “The students are absolutely wonderful, and they keep me young.”
