Columbia, SC (WLTX) – At the tender age of 5 and 6, students at South Kilbourne Elementary school in Columbia have already developed an appetite for learning.
“They learn so quickly in kindergarten,” said Blair Baxter. “It’s an awesome journey being able to watch their progress from the beginning of the year until now.”
Baxter has been teaching elementary school for the last five years and has high expectations for her students.
“They know our routines and our structures,” said Baxter. “We’ve practiced them and they’re able to do them independently.”
Right now, her students are developing a love for writing, something our News 19 crew witnessed firsthand.
“We were doing writing workshop,” said Aaliyah Vaughn. “We write about what we want to publish.”
Several parents wrote in to News 19 telling us how Ms. Baxter has changed their child’s life for the better.
“We don’t hear it enough that we’re doing makes a difference,” said Baxter.
