Lexington, SC (WLTX) – For more than two decades Michelle Morrow has been setting the educational foundation for students in Lexington District One.

“The best thing about kindergarten is that you get to build relationships with the kids and their families,” said Morrow.

It’s those relationships that brought our News19 crew to Oak Grove Elementary to surprise Mrs. Morrow. A parent of one of her former students wrote in and nominated her as our News19 Teacher of the Week.

“I was shocked,” said Morrow. “It’s an honor to be nominated for doing something that you love to do every single day, it’s really nice.”

“She’s our Rockstar kindergarten teacher,” said Barrett Leviner, Asst. Principal. “We have an Allstar team, but she’s just an example of what a leader in our school needs to be for our kids.”

Mrs. Morrow says it’s the special moments with her students that make her job so rewarding.

“You want them to come to school every day excited about learning and I think that starts in kindergarten,” said Murrow.

If you know a teacher who deserves to be recognized for their hard work in the classroom you can nominate them by emailing us at TOW@WLTX.COM.
