LEXINGTON, S.C. — An overturned tanker truck spilled bleach onto Interstate 20 in Lexington County Saturday afternoon.
Officers say another vehicle and the semi collided near the 57 mile marker, which is near the U.S. 1 exit. The semi then overturned, spilling several hundred gallons of bleach from its tanker.
Lexington County Fire Services secured the scene, and began working to clean up the spill. SC DHEC was called in to finish the clean up.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington Police Department also responded.
No severe injuries were reported, and officials say there is no threat to the public. They did say, however, that there could be an odor in the area for some time.
The crash also closed one lane of the interstate.
