CAMDEN, S.C. — After a long day at work, lottery officials said a man dropped by a Camden store and bought a scratch-off ticket. It was a moment that was quickly followed by a call to his wife.

Lottery officials said the man asked her a simple question: "Do you love me?" When she said yes, he told her the good news for both of them. He had just won $1 million.

Lottery officials said that she could tell by the sound of his voice and breathing that he was telling the truth.

The lottery officials said he described himself as blessed to have gotten the winning $1,000,000 Bonus Multiplier ticket, beating one in 1,440,000 odds.

The Gate Petroleum Co. story at 2202 West Dekalb Street that sold the ticket is also getting a nice surprise, a $10,000 commission for selling the ticket.

One more jackpot ticket in the $1,000,000 Bonus Multiplier game remains. Non-winners also have a second chance to win $1 million in the game through a special second-chance promotion. Details are available on the South Carolina Education Lottery website.
