Busiest times: Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are busiest Monday mornings, Thursday afternoons and all day Friday.
Workarounds: Use alternate checkpoints: Terminal 1 has three checkpoints; Terminal 2 has two checkpoints; and Terminal 3 has five checkpoints. There's only one checkpoint in Terminal 5 (International).
Depending on your airline and your status with TSA, expedited TSA PreCheck lanes may be available.

Most convenient: Valet (Lot A, Level 1): First hour, $26; 9 to 24 hours, $61. Hourly (Lot A, Level 1): $74/day. Main Garage (Lots A, B, C): $40/day. International (Lot D): $74/day. Reserved parking: Reservation fee, $10/day (plus parking/taxes/fees). Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations available.
Least expensive: Economy Lot E: $17/day. Economy Lot G: $10/day. Allow 30 minutes to reach terminals via shuttle bus and Airport Transit System (ATS).
Cellphone waiting lot: Located at the corner of Schlitz Road and Bessie Coleman Drive, just south of Economy Parking Lot G. 115 spaces. Amenities: restroom, flight information display system.
Transportation to/from city
Most convenient: 17-mile taxi ride to downtown will cost $35 to $40 and take 20 to 30 minutes. Shared shuttle vans (starting at around $25) also available. Ride-hailing services, including Uber and Lyft, are permitted to serve. Pick-up info here.
Least expensive: CTA Blue Line train runs between airport and downtown in about 50 minutes. Service is 24 hours. Fare: $5. It leaves from Terminal 2, lower level.
Wi-Fi and charging stations
Fee-based Wi-Fi service is provided by Boingo.
Eleven free power-charging workstations are located throughout the terminals. The work stations have counter space, AC outlets and seats.

Tips and tidbits
ORD has a large kids' play area (Terminal 2), a medical clinic (Terminal 2), more than 30 arts and culture displays, a four-story, 72-foot-long Brachiosaurus skeleton model on loan from the Field Museum, a USO "Cyber Canteen" in Terminal 3 and the Butch O'Hare Exhibit (Terminal 2), which includes a replica of the WWII F3F-4 fighter plane flown by the airport's namesake and U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Lt. Commander Edward "Butch" O'Hare.
Passengers can relax in the aeroponic garden in Terminal 3 (mezzanine, G Concourse). Next to the garden is a yoga room with mats and storage area for belongings; restrooms for changing are nearby. Full-service spas are located in Terminals 1, 3 and 5.
Mother’s Rooms are located post-security in Terminal 1 on the B Concourse across from Gate B10, in Terminal 2 in the E/F Concourses (hallway between Gates E5 and F8), in the Terminal 3 Rotunda, and in Terminal 5 near Gate M14. An indoor pet/service dog relief area is located in the Rotunda area of Terminal 3.
Nearby layover option
Day passes ($22.40) are available for the full-service health club at the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Athletic Club, which is accessible from O'Hare's Terminal 2. In addition to workout equipment, the club has showers, steam room, sauna and a lap pool with Jacuzzi. Fashion Outlets of Chicago, 2 miles from ORD, offers shopping and dining. A concierge service at the mall will print boarding passes and check airline baggage.
