Cops told criminals to stop committing crimes because it was too hot. They listened.

The department said its weekend was slow, and that's a good thing.

BRAINTREE, Mass. — We all have those weekends we don't want to do anything. One police department took this to a new level after urging "anyone thinking of doing criminal activity" to hold off due to the extreme heat.

Or, until Monday that is.

"It is straight up hot as soccer balls out there," the Braintree Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. "Conducting criminal activity, in this extreme heat is next level henchman status, and also very dangerous."

The police department continued with some helpful advice, saying people should stay at home and blast the AC while binge-watching Stranger Things, playing with the FaceApp, or practicing karate in the basement.

"We will meet again on Monday when it's cooler. Sincerely, the PoPo," the police department ended the now-viral post with, while sincerely asking for no spoiler alerts on the show.

Well, it appears the criminals listened. Or, it was just too dang hot out there.

"A sincere thank you to all those this weekend who decided it was too hot for crime," the department announced in a new post. "You made for a very slow weekend for us aka: The PoPo, Donut Patrol, The Fuzz, Five-Oh."

The department added there were zero arrests over the weekend and thanked the nearly 12 million Facebook fans they say interacted with their original post.

"It's Monday. Back to work!" the department said in the follow-up post.
