CNN given all-clear after bomb threat prompted building evacuation

New York City's Time Warner building, which houses media giant CNN, was evacuated as police investigated a bomb threat Thursday night.

New York police has given CNN employees the all-clear to return inside the Time Warner building after a bomb threat was phoned in Thursday night prompting an evacuation.

CNN anchor Don Lemon, whose live show was interrupted by the evacuation, said that someone phoned in saying that there were five bombs inside the building. CNN reporters on air said they were initially told the call came in at 9:47 p.m. A New York City Police Department tweet said the call came in at 10:07 p.m.

CNN was forced to run taped programing momentarily but then resumed live coverage on New York streets.

The Time Warner building is located near Columbus Circle in Manhattan. Police closed West 58th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue while they investigated the area, according to an NYPD tweet.

The threat came after a series of pipe bombs were sent to media organizations and high-profile officials, including CNN, in October.
