"This is a monumental day in United States-Israel relations as we finally open an embassy in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel," said South Carolina's senior U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. "For over 20 years, it has been American policy to recognize Jerusalem as the capital, but it wasn't until today -- and the leadership of President Trump -- that we had an embassy in Jerusalem. I truly appreciate the President turning this important recognition into reality. At a time of great upheaval across the Middle East, this announcement sends a clear message that the United States has Israel's back -- without equivocation. I'm proud to be present and leading the Senate delegation for this historic event. It's a true honor."

"Today the United States followed through on a commitment we made to the people of Israel more than twenty years ago," said South Carolina's junior U.S. Senator Tim Scott. "As a decision that has historically received bipartisan congressional support, the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel should me something and the relocation of our embassy certainly underscores what we've acknowledged to be true for years. Here is the undeniable fact: Jerusalem is home to Israel's leadership and legislature. It only makes sense that our embassy be located near the folks we interact with on a regular basis."

"America's bond with Israel is unique, and its strength is the foundation of American leadership in the Middle East," said Second District Congressman Joe Wilson. "President Donald Trump kept his commitment to the American people by moving our embassy to Jerusalem, and clearly established that each country has an inherent right to choose its own capital. The people of Israel, especially Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, know they have a true ally in the White House, which protects American families."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted out photos on Monday that included both Rep. Wilson and Sen. Graham.

"The holy city, Jerusalem, is finally rightfully home to our embassy, said Fifth District Congressman Ralph Norman. "Let today's dedication be a world-wide reminder that America stands with Israel, our greatest ally. By moving our embassy to Jerusalem, we are finally recognizing that Jerusalem is Israel's rightful and eternal capital--which will no longer be questioned. I applaud President Trump and his determination to finally do what no other president has been willing to do."
