2 U.S. soldiers killed, 6 wounded in Afghan attack

Someone dressed in an Afghan army uniform opened fire Saturday causing the injuries, the U.S. military says.

Two U.S. soldiers were killed and six others wounded in eastern Afghanistan, according to U.S. military officials who are calling the incident an insider attack.

U.S. officials say an Afghan national dressed in an Afghan army uniform opened fire late Saturday causing the injuries.

A member of the Nangarhar Provincial Council told the Associated Press that the gunman was killed.

There have been numerous attacks by Afghan national army soldiers on their allied partners over 18 years of America's long-standing war in Afghanistan.

Six U.S. service members have been killed in Afghanistan this year. Last year, 22 U.S. service personnel died from "hostile" action.
