Graham to Dems: No wall money, no deal

South Carolina's Senator outspoken on Twitter in support of President Trump's border wall

The budget fight and partial shutdown continue over funding for President Donald Trump's proposed border wall along the Mexican border.

The government has been in a partial shutdown since Saturday.

As the shutdown entered it's 7th day on Friday, Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham tweeted this:

Acting White House Chief of Staff and former South Carolina representative Mick Mulvaney also pointed a finger at Pelosi.

“This all comes down to Mrs. Pelosi's speakership. I think, if left to his own devices, Chuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats probably would cut a deal. But, they're protecting Mrs. Pelosi. She does not have the votes, and if she cuts a deal with the President, of any sort, before her election on January 3rd, she's at risk of losing her speakership. So, we're in this for the long haul,” Mulvaney said to a press gathering.

Senator Graham has tweeted several times about the wall and shutdown in the last seven days.

He says they're not going to abandon the wall and at times tells the President to ‘hang tough.’

In the meantime, Mulvaney told the press the shutdown will continue.

“We made an offer last Saturday night, they told us that they'd get back to us by the end of the week. They got back to us last night and said, 'We're leaving, that's it.' No more discussion, so, discussions have broken down. We do expect this to go on for a while. We do expect to manage it,” Mulvaney said.

Republican South Carolina Senator Tim Scott has not tweeted about the shutdown.

Neither has Democratic Representative Jim Clyburn or Republican Representative Joe Wilson. Wilson tweeted about the House vote supporting the wall, but that was before the shutdown began.

Neither Senator nor three of South Carolina's Representatives returned WLTX’s request for comment on Friday.
