A 17-year-old has been charged with third-degree assault and battery after allegedly holding down a 14-year-old at Wren High School, stripping the younger boy and putting a cheerleader outfit on him, according to a warrant.

Bradley Kade Clardy of Piedmont is accused of attacking the younger student during school hours at the Wren High football fieldhouse in Piedmont on Sept. 16.

The warrant alleges the incident was caught on video.

Clardy was listed as a junior and a linebacker on the high school's football team, according to a team roster. He did not appear at a game Friday.

He was charged Tuesday, according to the warrant. Clardy was booked Friday into the Anderson County Detention Center and was released on a personal recognizance bond, Lt. Sheila Cole of the Anderson County Sheriff's Office wrote in an email.

The case remains under investigation, according to a Sheriff's Office statement.

Anderson School District 1 Superintendent David Havird said the Williamston-based district "does not and will not tolerate harassment, hazing or bullying of students of any kind, and as a result of our investigation student misconduct has been fully addressed consistent with district policy and procedure."

He said he could not comment on individual students or specifics about discipline.

Havird said once administrators were aware of the allegations, they investigated and notified law enforcement. He said the time lapse between the alleged incident and the filing of criminal charges was the result of the investigations.

"We have fully cooperated with law enforcement and their investigation," he said.
