Shania Campbell, 13, of Manning has a birthday coming up. But Shania isn't your typical soon-to-be 14-year-old. She has more on her mind than getting presents. Shania has GIVING on her mind -- and in her heart.
Shania's parents, Kenneth and Kathy Shuler, tell us Shania wanted to spend her birthday with the children at Palmetto Health Children's Hospital. When Shania found out hospital policy didn't allow for that, she set out to raise money to help them instead.
Shania decided she would give out cookies and water in exchange for donations. Simpson Ace Hardware in Manning partnered with her, allowing her to set up a table at their store. She spent Wednesday working to make her birthday wish come true. And her hard work is paying off -- she raised $172.76 on Wednesday.
Shania's not done yet, though. She plans to continue to fundraise on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and probably next week, too!
Kenneth and Kathy Shuler say they are just "too proud" of their daughter Shania. "This story felt too good to not tell," says Kenneth Shuler, who reached out to share the story with us.
