Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A blown transformer was to blame for a smoky situation in downtown Columbia Tuesday afternoon.

People in the area reported hearing a loud boom, then saw smoke near the intersection of Main and Hampton Streets.

Columbia Fire Department Spokesperson Brick Lewis said the intersection was shut down as a preventative measure, and they restricted access to the Wells Fargo building while they put our the fire.

No one was hurt in the incident. SCE&G was brought in to repair the transformer.
