Tropical Depression Three forms, not a threat to the Midlands

The system is expected to dissipate by Wednesday as it nears the Carolina coast.

Tropical Depression Three formed Monday afternoon in the Atlantic Ocean near the Bahamas.

The depression is moving to the northwest at 13 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph. No significant increase in strength is expected.

It will turn to the north-northeast Tuesday and Tuesday night, but will dissipate by Wednesday.

The depression does not pose a threat to the Midlands. We will continue to monitor its progress over the next couple of days though.

Interests in the northwest Bahamas and the east coast of Florida should monitor the system. Heavy rainfall is likely across portions of the Bahamas and Florida.
