CHARLESTON, SC — We'll be seeing more of former USC baseball coach Chad Holbrook in Charleston. Reports came out today that Holbrook and the College of Charleston have agreed on a 5 year extension. Holbrook will be the head coach through 2023.
They were reports that he was a top candidate for the Kansas State job and had interest from other Power 5 programs but he'll stay in the Palmetto State.
Holbrook led the Cougars to a 36-19 record with 15 conference wins. The Cougars won 8 more games than last season as well.
The feather in Holbrook's cap is that the Cougars went 4-0 against SEC teams, they swept Georgia and defeated Carolina at Spirit Comm Park this season. He'll get an increase from his $165,000 base salary.
Holbrook earned 200 wins while at South Carolina before going to the College Of Charleston this past season.
