A solid start for Jensen Castle at the Augusta National Women's Amateur

In spite of a rib injury which flared up last week, the West Columbia native is under par after round one of the Augusta National Women's Amateur.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Jensen Castle says she did not pick up a club for five days until her practice round on Tuesday at the Champions Retreat Golf Club.

The Gray Collegiate Academy graduate and Kentucky senior did not play this past weekend at the Clemson Invitational.

So, Castle was pretty pleased after her opening round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur. Her 2-under par 70 has her four shots back of leader and World No. 1 Rose Zhang who carded a bogey-free six-under 66 to set a new 18-hole Championship record.

Round two will be Thursday at the Champions Retreat Golf Club before all the golfers will take part in a Friday practice round at the Augusta National Golf Club. Saturday's final round for the top 30 golfers and ties will be held at the home of next week's Masters.

South Carolina sophomore Hannah Darling shot a 2-over 74. Furman senior Anna Morgan was +5 on her opening round.
