The first round of baseball's amateur draft saw two players with ties to the Palmetto State taken.

Former Blythewood quarterback Jordyn Adams, who has played for the past two years at Green Hope High School in North Carolina, was taken with the 17th overall selection by the Los Angeles Angels.

Adams has committed to play football at North Carolina where his dad, Deke, is the Tar Heels defensive line coach.

11 picks later, Clemson junior outfielder Seth Beer was taken with the 28th overall selection by the Houston Astros. Beer led the ACC this past season with 22 home runs.

In 2016, Beer won the Dick Howser Trophy which is given to the nation's best player. He was the first freshman to win that award.
