Clemson Hoops Lands Oral Roberts Transfer

Brad Brownell continues to make his mark in the transfer market as he has landed a talented big man from Oral Roberts.
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles forward Javan White (25) looks to pass in the second half as Arkansas Razorbacks forward Trey Thompson (1) defends at Bud Walton Arena. Arkansas won 104-69.

Clemson's basketball team lost nearly its entire frontcourt from the 2017-18 season but has made strides to piece it back together so far this offseason.

The Tigers landed their second transfer in the past month with former Oral Roberts forward Javan White, who comes to Clemson with two years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound White averaged 10.2 points and nine rebounds per game last season on 51 percent shooting and will be immediately eligible to play as a graduate transfer.

White joins former UNC-Asheville forward Jonathan Baehre as Clemson's two frontcourt transfers this offseason, although Baehre will sit out the 2018-19 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Clemson lost Donte Grantham and Mark Donnal to graduation following its Sweet Sixteen season in 2017-18, and an already thin frontcourt took another hit when defensive stalwart David Skara announced his decision to leave school and turn pro.

White's addition gives the Tigers another big body beside ACC All-Defense center Elijah Thomas, who blocked 2.3 shots per game last season. The rising senior Thomas took to Twitter following the news of White's transfer Saturday, predicting the Tigers' already stout interior defense just got better.

Both Reed and Mitchell declared themselves eligible for the 2018 NBA Draft but will not hire agents, leaving the door open to return to Clemson for their senior seasons.
