Clemson softball has its first rainout

A ribbon cutting ceremony is moved inside but the day does not lose its significance due to the weather

The weather didn't cooperate but a special day for the Clemson softball program was still held albeit indoors at the team's practice facility.

Clemson University President Jim Clements, Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich, Head Coach John Rittman, and student-athletes MK Bonamy and Cammy Pereira headlined the ceremony where they spoke to a group of approximately 150 supporters.

The Tigers set to host its first-ever Fan Day at the Clemson Softball Stadium on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. with gates opening at approximately 1:30 p.m. Fan Day is set to feature an autograph session, a hitting demonstration with the team and Rittman, and tours of the facility.

Clemson kicks off its inaugural season on Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. against St John’s at UCF’s Black & Gold tournament (Feb. 7-9). The Tigers’ home opener is set for Feb. 12 in a doubleheader against Western Carolina. First pitch against the Catamounts is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
