Family comes first for the Swinneys

The First Lady of Clemson football spoke to News19 moments after she and her husband shared one final moment before kickoff

When Dabo Swinney started his All-In Team Foundation, it was a partnership with his wife Kathleen who has embraced her role as one of the ambassadors of Clemson football.

That partnership is as much about family as it is football.

Kathleen and Dabo shared a few special moments earlier tonight as the Tigers made their way to the field at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and her final words to him were quite simple.

"Just simply that I love you," Mrs. Swinney said.

As far as the days back home in Clemson leading up to tonight's game, Kathleen says Dabo does a good job of focusing on football and family, although she admits this week has been a little different.

"He's had a lot of work to do, he's very focused," she said.

"Had a lot going on but the same as always. Just happy and focused and loving his job."

But Dabo's emphasis on family starts at home, no matter what the final score was in Glendale or will be in New Orleans.

"He's all about us and his children no matter what," she said.

If Clemson were to defeat LSU, it will mean another slow ride in a convertible through the streets of Clemson for Dabo and Kathleen Swinney, with the rest of the team following close behind.
