Columbia, SC (WLTX) - We are counting down to opening day for the Columbia Fireflies.

We are down to 30 days until the first pitch is thrown at Spirit Communications Park and the Fireflies want to help get your kids in the game.

The Fireflies are partnering up with more than 100 Midlands schools for its reading program. The way it works is that students read and each book gets them around the bases. It's incentive based with specific prizes once your little reader finishes the program and hits a home run.

"They actually earn a free ticket to a Fireflies game, free food while they're here, a special prize and they earn a free ticket to Edventure Children's museum. So it's a great program," explained Abby Naas, VP, Marketing & Public Relations for the Columbia Fireflies.

Opening day is Thursday, April 14th against the Greenville Drive. Tickets are still available and you can get yours here.
