Fireflies walk it off against Hickory

Columbia rallies for two runs with two outs in the ninth for a 4-3 win over Hickory

Walter Rasquin's infield hit in the bottom of the ninth scored Anthony Dirocie as the Fireflies pulled off a dramatic 4-3 walk-off win over the Hickory Crawdads.

The visitors led 3-2 in the ninth but with two outs, Wagner Lagrange started the rally with a single before giving way to pinch runner Chandler Avant.

Bradley Marquez was facing an 0-2 count when he delivered a single that scored Avant with the tying run.

With the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the ninth, Rasquin ripped a sharp ground ball up the middle. Hickory second baseman Jonathan Ornelas made a valiant effort to get Rasquin at first but the throw was late. While that was going on, Dirocie was crossing home plate with the winning run.

Jose Moreno (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts and picked up the win.

Friday's game is set for 7:05 p.m. at Segra Park.
