Camden has advanced to the 3A Lower State championship without even boarding the bus to the Charleston area.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to play Oceanside Collegiate but the Landsharks had to cancel the game due to COVID-19 contact tracing.

As a result, Camden moves on to the Class AAA Lower State championship game where it will host the winner of the Dillon at Gilbert game.

"We got a call from Oceanside Collegiate at lunch today that informed us they would not be able to play in the SCHSL AAA 2nd Round playoff football game tonight due to a Covid-19 outbreak," said Camden head football coach Brian Rimpf.

"This was disappointing news, to say the least.  I know Coach (Joe) Call and his team have been working all season to get to this point, and to not be able to determine the winner of the game on the field is frustrating.  We thank OCA for being honest and reporting their virus exposure, but we really wanted to play too.  Our guys have practiced all week to play in a college stadium against another region champion.  Now, for the second time this season, we've had a game cancelled just hours before kickoff.  The whole situation is disappointing, but we wish the young men at OCA a speedy recovery."
