Hyatt helps South Carolina win the Shrine Bowl

Dutch Fork receiver has back-to-back monster games as his high school career comes to a close.

Jalin Hyatt had six receptions for 197 receiving yards and two touchdowns to help the South Carolina team defeat North Carolina 28-17 in the 83rd annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas Saturday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College.

The Dutch Fork receiver caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Mikele Colasurdo in the first quarter to open the scoring.

In the third quarter, Carolina Forest quarterback Mason Garcia would connect with Hyatt on a screen pass and the Tennessee signee would go 72 yards for his second touchdown of the afternoon.

The win was the first for the South Carolina team since 2014. Hyatt was named the Offensive MVP for the South Carolina team.

Hyatt's last game was against Dorman in the Class 5A state championship where he caught seven passes for 165 passes and three touchdowns including the game-winner in overtime. His Dutch Fork teammate Trey Irby recovered a fumble for the South Carolina team which gave up just one defensive touchdown with the Tarheels scoring on a blocked punt and a safety.
