His father was a walk on at Georgia and now another Muschamp will be blazing a trail to Georgia.
Quarterback Jackson Muschamp took part in Hammond's ceremony on the first day of the National Signing Day period. He will be a preferred walk on at Georgia after committing to Colorado State a little more than a week ago.
But his father, Gamecock head football coach Will Muschamp, said that Jackson started having second thoughts after initially committing to CSU. The younger Muschamp realized that Fort Collins, Colorado was in the end, just too far away from home. The day after he committed to the Rams, Muschamp knew it wasn't the right call, so he set out to first alert the Colorado State coaches before figuring out where he did want to go.
Enter Georgia who not only is much closer to home but is where Muschamp felt most comfortable. He has family and friends who have attended that school and he camped there last summer. After visiting the school last weekend, Muschamp made the call to stay in the SEC. He will no doubt bring a winning resume to Georgia after having been a part of Hammond's three consecutive SCISA state titles, the last two as the starting quarterback.
