The RNE Football program announces Williams Richardson as its next head coach

COLUMBIA, S.C. — In high school football news the RNE Cavaliers finally have a new football coach. William Richardson will take over the program.

The Sumter native and former Coastal Carolina quarterback has been the offensive coordinator at Westlake High School in Georgia the last two years. He's good friends with Ridge View head coach Perry Parks. They were college teammates at Coastal Carolina. Williams also led Sumter High School to a state title game during his high school days as quarterback.

Former River Bluff offensive line coach Justin Crocker took the RNE job in February but stepped down after a few weeks.

William will replace Bennet Weigle who coached the Cavs the last two seasons.

William will lead a turnaround for RNE who haven't been to the playoffs since 2015 and their last winning season was 8 years ago.

The new coach will meet with the team and parents Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm in RNE's gym.
