Injured Shoulder Still Hampering Korn

Freshman quarterback Willy Korn's status is still up in the air due to a sore shoulder. Head coach Tommy Bowden says a decision on Korn would be based on what's best for the team.

Backup quarterback Willy Korn said Wednesday the shoulder he injured in the Furman game continues to bother him on deep throws, but Clemson coach Tommy Bowden said Korn's playing status for the remainder of the season will be "based on what's best for Clemson.""It's sore. Deep throws hurts," Korn said. "We're not really sure what contact would do to it."Korn said Tribble Reese has taken snaps with the second team in practice, but Bowden said no decision has been made about whether he'll ask the NCAA to grant Korn a medical redshirt."Willy and I talked this week like we talk every week," Bowden said. "We're going to end up doing what's best for Clemson." Korn has maintained that he's still No. 2 behind starter Cullen Harper."Coach Bowden is going to make the decision," he said. "I'm going to do whatever I can to help the program. That's all I've done ever since I've been here."The shoulder was injured during the Furman game, his second appearance of the season. The following week Bowden said he hoped to get Korn "meaningful" playing time.Korn said the decision was "not in my hands.""I came here because I have faith in the coaches. I trust in them," he said. "They're going to make the best decision for me and the team." Ed McGranahanThe Greenville News
