DURHAM, NC — The Clemson Tigers were one win away from the ACC title game but Florida State denied that opportunity with a 5-4 win in Durham on Saturday night.

Clemson's Chris Williams erased a two run deficit in the bottom of the fourth with his big bat and swing. He sends a pitch out to left field for a three run homer. The 17th long ball of the year for Williams gives Clemson the 3-2 advantage.

Florida State had the answer in the top of the 8th as Jackson Lueck provided the tying run with a solo home run.

Still in the top of the 8th with game tied at 4-4 Ryley Gilliam is on the mound for the Tigers and throws a pitch. Tigers head coach Monte Lee thought he got a strike call. He argues with the ump who promply ejects Monte and he lets him have it. He threw his clipboard in the dugout on the way out for good measure.

It's a rare ejection from Clemson's head coach but that lit a fire. Gilliam struck out two straight batters with the bases loaded and the Tigers get the ground out to keep it tied at four all.

But in the top of the ninth Rhett Aplin delivers for Florida State. His rbi single plates Lueck and FSU leads 5-4.

Williams was at the plate for the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth with two outs but Van Eyk shuts the door with a strikeout to end the game and the Seminoles hold on for the one run win 5-4.

FSU will take on Louisville for the ACC championship tomorrow while Clemson returns home to wait for NCAA seeding.
