Connor Shaw Leaves Furman Program

GREENVILLE, SC — Furman announced today that Connor Shaw has resigned as tight ends coach to pursue a position in private business.

He posted this statement tonight.

Shaw joined the Clay Hendrix staff back in January. The hiring made a splash as the winninget quarterback in South Carolina history, who spent some time in the NFL, would be getting his first crack at college coaching. But that only lasted 7 months.

Furman has promoted Dru Dukes to replace Shaw as tight ends coach. Dukes is a former walk-on who served as a student assistant coach the last couple of seasons.

Now we may see Shaw again. Remember Steve Spurrier is the head coach for the Orlando team in Alliance of American football league which is set to launch next February.

This summer during his ProDad Camp at the Spurrier Indoor Facility Shaw said he did like the retired life but who knows there may be a Gamecock reunion forming in Orlando in a few months.
