COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Clemson Tigers already have the top ranked recruiting class in the country for 2020 but the Tigers can't get all the five-star prospects. One has decided to come to Columbia and he could be game changer for USC.
Muschamp tweeted Spurs Up as running back Marshawn Lloyd announced his commitment to the Gamecocks today with a video posted to his Twitter account.
Rivals.com ranks him as a five-star prospect and 247Sports has Marshawn as a 4-star but either way USC is getting a talented player. He's the highest rated running back prospect to commit to USC since David Williams in 2013.
Marshawn is the first five-star commit for USC's 2020 class. With Marshawn's pledge Carolina's class is now ranked top 20 nationally and sixth in the SEC.
Marshawn chose the Gamecocks over Georgia, Penn State, Auburn and Clemson.
He's ranked as a top 25 player in the country and a top 5 running back out of Dematha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland.
Marshawn is the 7th commit to the 2020 class and fills a real need for USC as they will lose four running backs after this season.
The Gamecocks now have some offensive pop in that class with Myrtle Beach quarterback Luke Doty, wide receiver Mike Wyman out of Greensboro, offensive lineman Issiah Walker and Marshawn who are all four-star commits.
