USC men's basketball team builds homes for the community

Saturday, the guys were helping put the finishing touches on one of the houses built by Habitat for Humanity.

The South Carolina men's basketball team was up early in downtown Columbia taking part in a service project with Habitat for Humanity.

It's all a part of the 8K in 8 days campaign. This is the sixth year of this community outreach effort and the goal is simple: impact eight thousand lives in eight days. Saturday, the guys were helping put the finishing touches on one of the houses built by Habitat for Humanity.

That means plenty of painting, and that includes one of the newest members of the team, Columbia native Seventh Woods. The Hammond graduate and University of North Carolina transfer was in charge of making the marks on the lumber as the the project then moved outside where an electric saw was waiting. T.J. moss stepped up and showed he knows how to make a precision cut on the lumber.

The 8K in 8 days project will continue next week so you might see the players at a service project near you.
