NEW ORLEANS — NEW ORLEANS, La. -- University of South Carolina junior sprinter Quincy Hall has been named to The Bowerman Pre-NCAA Championships Watch List, announced Monday by the USTFCCCA. This is Hall's first appearance on The Bowerman Watch List.

Hall's first season in Columbia has been one of the finest in South Carolina track & field history. The Kansas City, Mo., native won the 400m title at both the indoor and outdoor SEC Championships and has set new school records in the indoor 400m, outdoor 400m and indoor 4x400m relay.

At the NCAA Indoor Championships, Hall was a first-team All-America finisher in both the 400m and the 4x400m relay. Outdoors, in addition to his 400m duties, Hall added the 400m hurdles to his repertoire, winning the event at both Penn Relays and the NCAA East Regional.

Hall is slated to run both the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m relay at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, scheduled for June 5-8 in Austin, Texas. His 400mH time of 48.54 leads the nation and ranks third on the world leaderboard. The 4x400m relay squad holds the NCAA's No. 7 time at 3:03.33. Though he will not run the quarter-mile in Austin, Hall also ranks second nationally in the 400m with a time of 44.53.

Joining Hall on the Bowerman Watch List are Texas A&M's Devin Dixon, LSU's Mondo Duplantis, Florida's Grant Holloway, Wisconsin's Morgan McDonald, South Dakota's Chris Nilsen, Texas Tech's Divine Oduduru, North Dakota State's Payton Otterdahl, Mississippi State's Anderson Peters and Kentucky's Daniel Roberts.

Though no South Carolina track & field student-athlete has ever won a yearly national award in the era of The Bowerman, the Gamecocks do boast four former USTFCCCA athletes of the year: Natasha Hastings (2007; overall), Demetria Washington (2002; indoor), Terrence Trammell (2000; outdoor) and Miki Barber (2000; outdoor). Also, Lashinda Demus was honored as national athlete of the year by Track & Field News in 2002.

Hall represents two of the nine entries that South Carolina will field at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He'll run in the semifinals of the 400mH on Wednesday, June 5 at 8:30 p.m. CT before leading the Gamecocks in the 4x4 relay semifinals at 9:48 p.m. CT.
