Jacob Carron Is The Player of the Week

Jacob Carron is a senior wrestler for the Lugoff-Elgin Demons.

Jacob Carron's senior season saw him help the Lugoff-Elgin Demon wrestling team make the quarterfinals of the Class 4A playoffs. His 36-10 record was deceiving according to head coach Ted Monroe because most of Carron's losses were by one or two points and they came against some high-quality competition.

As a junior, Carron would have had a hard time dealing with those defeats, but Monroe says Carron came into his senior season more relaxed, while still pushing himself on the mat. The end result was someone who was able to maximize his talents in the 160-pound weight class.

In the classroom, Carron is sporting a 3.6 grade point average and his excellence in the classroom will be tested down the road. Carron says after high school, he eventually wants to enroll at Columbia International University where his goal is to become a pastor.

That calling coincides with Carron not feeling quite as much pressure this season, which allowed him to enjoy the wins and learn from the losses.
