Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) --- A linebacker on the Orangeburg-Wilkinson football team, Cornelius Walker has a good chance of playing at the next level by earning academic scholarships.

Walker is ranked third in the senior class and according to head coach Tommy Brown, any program who would give Walker a chance would be getting a "workaholic" in every aspect of being a student-athlete.

The senior wants to be an engineer, so schools such as Virginia Tech and North Carolina A&T are possible destinations for Walker who figures he will earn academic scholarships to pay for school which would allow him the flexibility to walk on.

But in the meantime, Walker and his low-key personality will continue to do his part as the Bruins try to earn a spot in the 3A playoffs. Part of his role as a senior is to make sure the younger players know what to do in case they are called on to perform. His even-keel approach is needed as the regular season comes to a close as teams like the Bruins are jockeying for playoff positions.
