It's not quite as solid as two-way deal but Chris Silva will get an opportunity to show that he belongs in the NBA.
The former Gamecock who was the 2018 SEC Defensive Player of the Year will be a part of the summer league roster of the Miami Heat.
The Summer League which is held in Las Vegas provides a tournament format for teams and it allows players the chance to catch the eye of NBA coaches and scouts by playing anywhere from five to seven games.
Silva was not expected to be drafted but was on several draft boards as being just outside the second round. At his summer press conference earlier this week, USC head basketball coach Frank Martin said that he had been fielding phone calls from teams with legitimate interest in Silva who had pre-draft workouts with several teams including the Charlotte Hornets.
In his senior season, Silva led the Gamecocks in scoring (15.2 ppg) rebounds (7.6) and blocks (1.9).
