Swansea's season takes a turn for the better

After an overtime win at Manning, the Swansea Tigers have extended their season another week.

A season of frustration and adversity has taken a 180 in the last month.

The Swansea Tigers dealt with the firing of former head coach Greg Wright in late June and the naming of assistant Eric Pack as interim head coach. After dropping the first seven games of the regular season, the Tigers won the last two games to go into the playoffs with some momentum.

The players kept the momentum going with a 20-14 win in overtime over the Manning Monarchs who came in with a 7-3 record.

Pack says he could tell in practice leading up to the Manning game that there was a different edge to his kids. The coach also said the kids could draw on the experiences of some close losses that helped them deal with the go or go home pressure of the playoffs.

Swansea's reward for its first playoff win since 2014 is a trip to top-ranked Dillon Friday night in a second-round matchup.
